Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Orchard Literacy (“Orchard Literacy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit https://orchardliteracy.com/, purchase or download digital resources, subscribe to emails, or contact us.

This website is intended for adults, including teachers, homeschool parents, tutors, reading interventionists, literacy coaches, school staff, and other resource buyers. It is not directed to children.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, information created when you use the website, and information from service providers that help us operate the site.

Information you provide

  • Name, email address, account login details, billing details, and other checkout information.
  • Order history, download access records, receipts, tax information, and support requests.
  • Email subscription details, preferences, confirmations, unsubscribes, and marketing engagement.
  • Messages sent through contact forms, reviews, testimonials, survey responses, or similar communications.

Information collected automatically

  • IP address, browser type, device information, referring pages, pages viewed, approximate location, and dates or times of visits.
  • Cookie, analytics, security, anti-spam, and site-performance data.
  • Download logs and transaction metadata needed to deliver digital products and prevent abuse.

Payment card numbers are processed by our payment providers. We do not intentionally store full payment card numbers on our website.

2. How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information to:

  • Process purchases, deliver downloads, maintain accounts, send receipts, and provide customer support.
  • Respond to questions about products, downloads, school or team use, accessibility, and technical issues.
  • Send marketing emails, freebie delivery emails, product updates, and educational content where permitted by law and your consent choices.
  • Operate, secure, debug, personalize, and improve the website, checkout, email forms, and digital product delivery.
  • Prevent fraud, misuse, unauthorized file sharing, spam, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Use.
  • Comply with tax, accounting, consumer protection, privacy, accessibility, and other legal obligations.

3. How We Share Personal Information

We share personal information only as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including with:

  • Payment processors, ecommerce tools, tax/accounting providers, and fraud-prevention services.
  • Email marketing and form providers, including services used to deliver freebies, confirmations, and newsletters.
  • Website hosting, security, analytics, backup, database, customer-support, and file-delivery providers.
  • Professional advisers, insurers, auditors, legal authorities, or regulators when required or appropriate.
  • A successor organization if Orchard Literacy is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, asset sale, or similar business transfer.

We do not sell personal information for money. As of the date above, we do not knowingly share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as that term is used in California privacy law. If that changes, we will update this Policy and provide required opt-out rights.

4. Cookies, Analytics, and Similar Technologies

We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, local storage, logs, or similar technologies to keep the site working, remember preferences, secure checkout, analyze traffic, measure email or campaign performance, and improve the customer experience.

You can usually control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect checkout, account access, forms, downloads, or security features.

5. Email Marketing and Commercial Messages

If you request a free resource, join our email list, or otherwise consent to receive marketing messages, we may send educational content, product updates, offers, and related emails. You can unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email.

For Canadian recipients, we aim to send commercial electronic messages only with consent or where another lawful basis applies under Canada’s anti-spam rules. Transactional or service messages, such as receipts, download links, support responses, and account notices, may still be sent when needed.

6. Children and Student Information

Orchard Literacy resources are designed for adults who teach or support young readers, but the website is not intended for children under 13 or for children under the age of majority in their province, state, or territory. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through the website.

Please do not submit identifiable student information through contact forms, emails, reviews, or support requests unless it is necessary and you have authority to share it. When asking for teaching support, use initials, general age or grade level, and skill information instead of full names or other identifying details.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

7. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including purchase records, tax/accounting obligations, dispute resolution, customer support, email consent records, security logs, and legal compliance. Retention periods may vary based on the type of information and applicable law.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No website, email system, payment system, or internet transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Cross-Border Processing

We may use service providers located in the United States, Canada, or other countries. Your information may be processed or stored outside your province, state, or country, where it may be subject to local laws and lawful access requests.

10. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, port, or object to certain processing of your personal information, withdraw consent, opt out of marketing, or appeal a privacy decision.

To make a privacy request, contact us through the Contact page. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

11. U.S. State Privacy Notice

This section is intended to provide additional information for residents of U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws, including California where applicable. Some state laws apply only to businesses that meet specific thresholds. If a particular law does not apply to Orchard Literacy, we may still respond to reasonable requests when practical and legally appropriate.

In the last 12 months, we may have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers; commercial information; internet or electronic network activity; approximate geolocation derived from IP address; customer support, review, or message content you choose to provide; and inferences related to website or email engagement. We collect these categories from you, your device, and our service providers for the business and commercial purposes described above.

California residents may have rights to know/access, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit use of sensitive personal information, and use an authorized agent. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics.

12. Canada Privacy Notice

For Canadian customers and subscribers, we handle personal information in line with the principles of accountability, identifying purposes, consent, limiting collection, limiting use/disclosure/retention, accuracy, safeguards, openness, individual access, and complaint handling.

You may request access to or correction of your personal information, withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing, or ask questions about our privacy practices. Withdrawal of consent may limit our ability to provide downloads, support, email delivery, or other services. Canadian residents may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, where applicable, their provincial privacy authority.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it was last revised. Changes are effective when posted unless a different effective date is stated.

14. Contact

For privacy questions, access requests, correction requests, deletion requests, consent withdrawal, or child/student information concerns, contact Orchard Literacy through the Contact page.
